FAQ

What ages does this class cover?
Tiny Tasters: Baby's First Bites covers ages 4-12 months. I recommend watching the class as you are starting to think about introducing solids. Parents have tuned in when their babies are younger (or even when pregnant) so they feel better prepared for the upcoming months.

How much does this class cost?
$90 for 3 months of video access (just $1 p/day). The class also provides downloadable handouts and recipes which are yours to keep forever. Because babies' feeding progresses a lot over a few short months, the videos are re-watchable so you can get refreshers as needed on the next feeding stages. All sales are final and non-refundable.

How long are the videos?
The class is a total of 70 minutes divided into 11 short videos that are easy-to-watch and re-watch. The videos range anywhere from 2 minutes to 13 minutes. I get that time (and headspace) is limited - so 13 minutes is the most you'll have to focus for at one time :)

What's the best way to watch the class?
I recommend watching the videos in consecutive, numerical order from 1-11 at whatever pace feels comfortable. Before watching the videos, download the handouts, and reference them while watching the videos. When you get to a certain topic, the video will notify you what handout(s) to reference. As you feed your baby and need refreshers, return to watch specific videos, or review your handouts.

Do I have to watch all of the videos at once?
No. You can watch the entire class in one sitting (70 minutes), or watch videos one at a time at your convenience. I recommend watching the videos in consecutive, numerical order at whatever pace feels comfortable.

How can I re-watch the videos?
Simply log back into your account, and watch the videos again. You can go to an individual video if you want to review a specific topic.

What is your background?
I am a Registered Dietitian, Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition and Certified Lactation Counselor. I spent 5 years as a Clinical Nutritionist in two of New York's top children's hospitals and outpatient centers. I work in private practice, and am a mom of 2. I weave in my personal anecdotes alongside my clinical approach throughout the class. I've been teaching Tiny Tasters in person since 2014.

Who should watch the Tiny Tasters class?
The class was created for parents and caregivers (nannies, daycare staff, grandparents). The class is also great for healthcare professionals (RDs, RNs, CLCs, IBCLCs, MDs, SLPs, OTs)  who want learn or review feeding babies based on latest, evidenced-based recommendations. There are no continuing education credits offered right now.

Do you cover baby led weaning?
My approach for feeding is what I call baby guided feeding. For safest swallowing, I recommend to start with purees, and quickly progress to finger, table foods as tolerated. I strongly believe in offering sensory-stimulating, flavorful food, feeding babies what you are eating, following baby's cues, and allowing baby to be safely engaged, and in control of the feeding. In other words, I let baby guide the feeding relationship.

What are the handouts for?
The handouts are a great tool to use and have available while watching the videos. When you get to a certain topic on the video, the screen will notify you what handout(s) to reference. They act as your notes and serve as great guides, or cheat sheets, to have on hand as you feed your baby. Some handouts include charts, sample menus and lists, such as: when to progress textures, suggested portions, food pairing and flavoring ideas, menus, tips for creating positive mealtime environments, cheatsheets for making homemade baby food, how to shop for baby food, managing constipation.

Where can I find the handouts?
There are 15 handouts in total. Handouts can be found in the Resources tab once you click into each video. In video #1, you will find all 15 handouts compiled together. In videos 2-10, under the Resources tab, you will find the individual handouts that go along with those specific videos.

Where can I find the recipes?
There are 10 original recipes for homemade baby food. All 10 recipes can be found in the Resources tab once you click into video #1.

How is the content divided? Is is divided by age?
I genuinely believe every baby progresses differently, so I purposely did not divide the videos by age. Rather, the content is divided into 6 main units by topics.

Can I purchase this as a gift?
Yes, at checkout you will see the option to "Buy as a Gift." Input the recipient's email address and they will receive a gift card for the full amount to purchase this class. It makes a great baby gift or baby shower gift. All sales are final and non-refundable.

Some specific information does not apply to premature babies or babies with special healthcare needs. The overall approach and philosophy of feeding can apply to all babies, especially for topics like creating positive mealtime environments, how to make or shop for baby food. Specifics on when to introduce, portions, estimated nutritional needs, and progression of textures may need to be modified. Please consult your pediatrician.
